What is where?

For those who do not have a detailed map of the world in their head there is this tool called Map24 that can find any address and plan routes in Europe, but also Canada, the USA and Brazil. We hope that by the time we leave, they will have added new locations in South America.

What to visit during our trip?

That is of course a difficult question given that the time is limited. One could of course go for the 'best of' sites of the Lonely Planet, Rough Guides, Let's Go, etc etc. Another guide for travelling could be UNESCO's World Heritage Sites. That this idea is not totally new is proven by the website of this lady. Still to us it sounds rather attractive. The whole list according to country is here.

Travel through the US and Canada

It shouldn't be too difficult to find our way through the US and Canada if you look at the map that is provided by Greyhound. Of course, you have to make sure you find the best deal. This one actually sounds pretty good for 60 days. We just wonder what type of people travel via Greyhound? Doesn't everyone in the US own a car or three?

Transportation from Fairbanks to Prudhoe Bay on Alaska's Dalton Highway

This is the first entry in this blog, which is used for our preparation and during the actual travel from Alaska to Chile in 2006-2007. We plan to do this mainly or even exclusively by public transport. The challenge is getting up north. Flying into Anchorage should be not too much of a problem, but reaching the arctic sea should. We found the following company that seems interesting: Arctic Outfitters.
